Official community and study tool ideas
- Replaced the study-material marketplace with the official community. Sign in with your Bandal account to share contest ideas, study methods, questions, and feedback through posts, comments, and reactions. The plugin marketplace in Settings remains available.
- Prepared an idea contest for study tools and methods you would like in Bandal. Describe the audience, problem, workflow, and an example; no coding is required. One first-place winner receives ₩100,000 and one second-place winner receives ₩50,000. Entry and announcement dates will be published once confirmed.
- Drafts stay on your device, and retries avoid duplicate submissions. Entries lock at the deadline and are judged using their content at that time. Awards and decisions to develop a feature are communicated separately.
- Added a contest guide and a path to desktop participation on the website. Read and write entries in the app; mobile visitors can copy the guide link to continue on a computer. Homepage promotions and entry buttons remain hidden before publication.
- Fixed hidden material search results and pointer input in the built-in browser, and refined the school and course sidebar layout.
Preserve your work and recover smoothly
- New drafts survive failed saves and course or tab changes. Workspace recovery failures offer a retry, and PDFs no longer remain blank after narrow layouts or restoration.
- PDF annotations and whiteboards show accurate save status. Exports wait for pending saves and image preparation, including photos and PDF clips on whiteboards.
- Improved cancellation and approval checks for AI and browser actions, plus error recovery in learning, search, settings, tasks, and widgets. Menus and panel resizing work better with the keyboard.
- Strengthened plugin isolation and checks on access to materials. The web demo exports notes across courses, including unsaved edits, and keeps every demo option available on small screens.
Five key features and clearer plugin settings
- A short welcome with the two-moon mark introduces five features using real sample views: collecting materials, PDFs and notes, AI beside your material, quizzes and cards, and English reading.
- Plugins and external services share a searchable list with type filters. Open a tool for its required settings; external services are enabled only after a successful connection check.
- Existing introduction records and materials are preserved. Tutorial samples are removed on exit, and the web demo and product/social images reflect the updated app’s real interface.
A clearer course and material library
- Courses use outlined folders with small color markers; PDFs, notes, and images use neutral document icons. Search, selection, and the start screen are quieter and clearer.
- Empty favorites now use a short prompt and an add-link button. Notes, web, and AI starting actions sit in one column.
AI beside your material, with calmer navigation
- Separated PDF highlights from the shared AI sidebar. Conversations, drafts, and width are preserved, with clearer context, attachments, sending, and conversation controls.
- Fixed the study board covering the sidebar button and refined panel boundaries and widgets. Large moon marks move for two seconds, rest for six, and stop offscreen or with reduced motion.
Smoother sidebars and browser overlays
- The course button collapses the list; the top button and shortcut collapse the entire left side. Short transitions preserve search, selection, and scrolling.
- Fixed browser pages remaining above settings and popups. Account customization was replaced with Google or Kakao account photos, with a default user icon as fallback.
Per-tab AI sidebars and a simpler app
- Added an AI sidebar for each material tab, with separate conversations and drafts that can expand into an AI tab. Refined the material panel and widgets.
- Retired the orb and Together interfaces, settings, and real-time communication. Existing data is retained, as are personal whiteboards, accounts, marketplace, and feedback. Earlier AI conversations remain in history.
The two-moon mark and richer AI context
- Introduced the two-moon mark and context from PDFs, slides, selections, and unsaved notes. The orb and separate conversation window introduced here were replaced by per-tab sidebars in v0.61.
- Improved Codex App Server and Gemini ACP connections, approvals, cancellation, resuming, and image input. Requires Codex CLI 0.158.0+ or Gemini CLI 0.58.0+; Gemini OAuth has account-dependent restrictions.
Browser imports and tabs that keep their state
- Import from Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or a Safari export. Select supported cookies, passwords, bookmarks, and history; OS-protected data and Safari cookies may require signing in again.
- Preserve input, scrolling, and navigation across tabs. Improved closing, restoring, dragging, and quit confirmation, with multiple saved accounts per site.
A new neutral light and dark design
- Introduced System, Light, and Dark appearances, global navigation, and simpler PDF tools while preserving courses, material, notes, and tabs.
- Retired color palettes and global plugin themes. Legacy themes map to the appropriate light or dark mode, preserving fonts and density.
Separate school and personal browser profiles
- Choose a profile per tab to separate sign-ins, history, permissions, and extensions. Downloads use that tab’s session and course.
- Improved leave-page confirmation and profile restoration, and added two-finger back and forward gestures.
Better browser tabs and image copying
- Open login and document windows as tabs while preserving their original page connections. Improved middle-click, background tabs, and download cleanup.
- Copy Markdown images for pasting into other apps. PDF zoom now follows the pointer and reduces flicker.
Login popup and download compatibility
- Preserve POST and nested authentication window connections, and clean up empty download tabs. Downloads retain their original course and failed file saves can be retried.
Readable Korean annotations in exported PDFs
- Fixed Korean annotations appearing as symbols in other PDF apps. Preserve glyphs, formatting, search, and copying; font-loading failures report an error and keep the original file.
A simpler address bar and faster navigation
- Show the domain normally and the full URL when editing. Search history, favorites, campus shortcuts, and open tabs, with improved Korean input and narrow layouts.
More responsive startup and course switching
- Move heavy data preparation, file watching, and search off the main loop. Retain recent workspaces, restore visible material first, and preserve notes and PDF position when switching courses.
Date ranges and better small-window layouts
- Set start and end dates and times, including multi-day all-day events. Removed the extra hour previously added after a deadline when sending to Apple Calendar.
- Improved menu and editor positioning and scrolling to keep them inside the window.
Copy PDFs and slides as images
- Right-click a page or slide to copy a PNG with annotations or just the original. Copy the whole page regardless of zoom, with improved Korean annotations on Windows.
Apple Calendar connection fixes
- Fixed calendar permission prompts not appearing in the signed Mac app. Improved PDF retention, split layouts, and dialog focus in the web demo.
Apple Calendar and a real app web demo
- Connect Apple Calendar from Settings → Calendar or the calendar’s ··· menu. Select Mac calendars to display alongside your Bandal tasks.
- Save and send tasks to a writable Apple calendar. Sending again updates the existing event. Changes do not sync automatically in both directions.
- Fixed PDFs waiting for focus before loading in split views. Improved narrow calendar layouts and updates after tasks change elsewhere.
- The website now runs the actual PDF, Milkdown, linked-note, tab, board, calendar, and AI UI. Themes update every demo instantly, with note persistence and export. AI replies are examples.
A smoother AI composer and approval flow
- Choose a provider, model, and effort in chat, the in-app orb, or the desktop orb, with settings saved per conversation.
- Use + to add files, course material, browser pages, desktop context, and installed skills. Connected creation skills show generated files in cards you can open.
- Approvals appear one at a time, with completed, denied, expired, and canceled states synchronized across windows. Retry failed approvals from the same card.
- Failed sends preserve drafts and attachments. Fixed duplicate sends across windows and Escape and focus behavior in orb menus.
Copy slides as images and scroll more smoothly
- Copy a slide as an image from its context menu, with annotations or just the original.
- Reduced linked-scroll bounce and interference between material and notes, and improved per-tab position and zoom restoration.
- Improved tab dragging, edge scrolling, splitting, and merging, and reduced work in rendering queues, caches, and file reads.
Recording controls and per-tab preferences
- Recording panels remember whether they are collapsed, with transcripts prioritized in narrow views.
- Added ten-second skips, playback speed, and seeking. Opening an existing audio.wav shows its recording and transcript tab.
- Manage defaults under Settings → Tabs and customize shortcuts for all six new-tab types.
Lecture recording with on-device transcripts
- Added course recordings and local Whisper transcripts, with timestamp links to PDF pages and notes, plus Markdown transcript export.
- Recordings continue after closing a tab, with original-audio-first storage, retranscription, and session recovery.
- The default model is about 1.63 GB and requires macOS 15 or later on Mac. Long recording sessions and Whisper performance on Intel and Windows devices have not yet been validated.
Presentations as study material
- Added PPTX annotations, linked page notes for PPT and PPTX, and PDF-copy export with annotations.
- Legacy PPT files use a local converter downloaded with consent. Improved read receipts, notifications, and mail widgets; mail connections require separate account verification and deployment configuration.
PiP restoration and mail widget fixes
- Fixed Bandal disappearing from the Dock and app switcher after PiP, and restored window activation.
- Improved footer navigation order and narrow mail-widget rendering, loading, errors, and expanded views.
Tasks and workspace widgets
- Refined task creation and editing, workspace widgets, and the in-app mail-widget interface.
More natural PDF notes and split views
- PDF text boxes now support multiline input with Enter and Shift+Enter, preserving line breaks when saved.
- In narrow split views, page navigation and zoom stay visible while drawing tools move to a dedicated second row.
- When drawing tools overflow, use arrows, a trackpad, or the mouse wheel to reach every tool, including export.
A lighter, cleaner study workspace
- Fixed clipped settings-card borders and uneven bottom spacing so every setting is easier to read and use.
- Simplified the course sidebar around the selected school, moved Friends to the bottom navigation, and made widgets opt-in.
- Optimized PDF/page-note scrolling and rendering, and now loads heavy screens only when needed for faster startup and response.
- Hardened PDF worker initialization so documents continue to open reliably after the loading optimizations.
Stable page-note editing
- Fixed Korean composition being interrupted or the caret moving because the page-note editor was recreated while typing.
- Editor-driven scrolling while typing no longer moves the paired PDF by mistake.
- Prevented PDF and page notes from echoing scroll updates back and forth, stabilizing linked navigation.
Page notes hotfix
- Fixed a blank window that could appear after restarting with a page note open.
- Removed prompts from empty pages and tightened the spacing around and between pages.
- Reduced page-note body type and inner padding so more content fits on screen.
- Renderer failures now show a safe recovery screen instead of an empty window.
A workspace where lecture material and notes move together
- Create Markdown notes matching a PDF’s page count and proportions, open them side by side, and scroll both directions in sync.
- Page notes adapt when a PDF changes while safely preserving removed-page notes and recoverable source text.
- Added configurable workspace widgets for tasks, today’s schedule, and quick actions.
- Added a Friends hub for requests, direct conversations, and explicitly shared course information.
More accurate document viewing and a stronger browser
- PPTX files now render closer to their original layout with zoom, text selection, links, and speaker notes.
- Photos can be added to personal and shared whiteboards from the toolbar or by pasting, with safe optimization for large images.
- Added popup controls, tracking protection, DNT and GPC, bookmark and password imports, download pausing, and a Home button.
- Verified unpacked Manifest V3 extensions can now be installed, enabled, and disabled.
Settings reliability and Plugin API v2
- Fixed settings save races and reset errors, and improved settings search and keyboard access.
- Added selection editing, material menus, dedicated panels, settings schemas, and themes to plugins.
- Added a per-plugin isolated process, developer SDK, and local folder watching.
- Refined the settings interface and empty workspace design.
More natural editing and browsing
- Added point sizes, selection formatting, automatic height fitting, and keyboard sizing to PDF text boxes.
- Markdown now focuses the body immediately and can create linked notes with / New page.
- Every course can now be expanded or collapsed independently of selection.
- Added in-app sign-in popups, per-tab private browsing, and more reliable PDF text selection.
PDF text-box coordinate fix
Fixed text content, selection frames, and move handles appearing at different positions.
Plugins and connected notes
Introduced plugins, course colors, Markdown wikilinks and callouts, expanded palettes, and text tools.
Workspace refinements
Added resizable sidebars, Office document viewers, and improved selection deletion.
Text-box overhaul
Reworked text-box creation, selection, movement, and resizing across PDFs and whiteboards.
